Les Suêtes are strong southeast winds on the west coast of Cape Breton Island. The term "suête" originates from the Acadian French inhabitants of the Cheticamp area as a contraction of "sud est" (south-east). The Weather station here in Grand Etang has recorded wind speeds of over 200 kilometers per hour on several occasions.
Our menu is influenced by the big city ethnic foods we miss, along with fresh vegetables & fruit that we often grow or forage in our backyard.
